Our Foundational Principle
Dendra Folio exists to cultivate distinctive human writing, disciplined philosophical inquiry, and authentic artistic expression. We believe that enduring literature springs from human consciousness, that is from memory, moral struggle, spiritual intuition, and lived experience.
While computational tools continue to advance, we maintain that using a digital instrument must never substitute for creative authorship, critical judgment, or intellectual honesty.
Guidelines for Contributors
1. What Is Permitted
We welcome digital tools that assist the writing and editing process without supplanting authorial intent:
- Conventional spellcheckers and typographical formatting tools.
- Standard digital dictionaries, thesauri, and encyclopedic reference indexes.
- Accessibility adaptations (such as text-to-speech proof-listening).
Writers remain entirely responsible for the finished text, including verifying any stylistic or grammatical changes recommended by an automated tool.
2. What Requires Transparent Disclosure
We require contributors to disclose upon submission if generative AI was materially utilized during the creation of a piece for:
- Brainstorming broad structural outlines or contrasting arguments.
- Summarizing complex technical, legal, or academic research documents.
- Assisting with rough translation drafts from original source languages.
- Generating developmental feedback or exploring phrasing alternatives.
Disclosure does not automatically disqualify a submission. Our editorial desk evaluates the nature and extent of the assistance to ensure the finished piece firmly embodies the author's own intellectual, artistic, and philosophical voice.
3. What We Do Not Accept
Absolute Boundary: We do not publish essays, poetry, or fiction substantially written, generated, or rewritten by artificial intelligence and submitted as the contributor's original literary or intellectual creation.
In addition, we strictly reject:
- Fabricated quotations, hallucinated citations, synthetic interviews, or simulated personal memoirs presented as factual.
- Material that infringes upon third-party copyrights or incorporates protected works without lawful authorization.
Every author bears full legal and moral responsibility for factual veracity, permissions, and ethical citation.
Mutual Covenants: Protecting Unpublished Manuscripts
We treat the creative sanctuary of our writers with utmost seriousness:
- Author Protection Covenant: Contributors must not upload confidential editorial correspondence, private editorial feedback, or unpublished Dendra Folio manuscripts into public or third-party AI models where training ingestion, automated data retention, or data scraping may occur.
- Publisher Protection Covenant: Dendra Folio covenants that it never uploads an author's unpublished manuscript, draft, or private correspondence to external AI systems for automated rewriting, line editing, or algorithmic evaluation without express written permission.
How We Evaluate Concerns
We recognize that commercial "AI detection" software is inherently probabilistic, frequently produces false positives, and cannot serve as definitive evidence of misconduct. We do not treat automated detection scores as conclusive proof.
If a credible concern arises regarding authenticity, our editors initiate a direct, collegial dialogue with the author to discuss their creative process, draft evolution, and research notes. Decisions remain grounded in human discernment and fair review.
Where intentional deception or wholesale automated generation is established, Dendra Folio declines the submission, rescinds acceptance, or unpublishes the piece immediately.
Our Editorial Commitment to Readers
Our readers come to Dendra Folio seeking authentic contemplation. We pledge that:
- All editorial letters, essays, poems, and fiction published on Dendra Folio represent genuine human craft.
- We never publish AI-generated synthetic articles disguised as human reflection.
A Note on Our Use of AI
Dendra Folio uses AI-assisted tools in some aspects of website development, technical maintenance, and administrative drafting. These tools help us build and operate the publication; they do not replace our commitment to human literary authorship.
The reason is straightforward: the maker of the website, Pranshu Gupta, is a writer who does not professionally know coding and has no software development expertise. Wanting an independent, quiet place to publish and read, he took the help of Google Antigravity to build and design this site.
We expect published work to represent the author's own intellectual and creative expression. We assess substantive generative AI use in submitted work according to our editorial policy, and we do not knowingly present AI-generated writing as a writer's unaided original work.
We remain responsible for our editorial decisions, the policies we adopt, and the experience we offer our readers and contributors.
Editorial Disclosures & Questions
Contributors wishing to disclose the material use of assistive research or translation tools in their writing process may do so directly in their submission cover email to our editorial desk.
